On July 18, Michael Batnik (author of The Irrelevant Investor blog) tweeted the chart below and caused quite a stir on Twitter. Many found it to be a bit misleading to the less-educated investor. In short, what the chart is displaying is that five companies (Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Microsoft, and Facebook) in the S&P 500 Index have about the same market capitalization as the smallest 282 companies.
